Yesterday morning while going to work at Locus Workspace in the Wenceslas Square area, I happened upon a ceremony commemorating victims of Communist oppression, including the great Milada Horakova. For those of you who don't know, Horakova was an accomplished lawyer and
politician who was executed as an "enemy of the people" in the 1950s at the age of 48. She has become a symbol of resistance and courage. People laid wreaths and flowers at various locations in the Czech Republic to honor her and others. Horakova has a prominent street named after her as well. It is great to live and work in a city with such a rich cultural history!
